The Frankfurt Book Fair is approaching and just like every year, several releases will be presented at the world’s largest trade fair for books. You are an author and want to market your book successfully before the fair starts? Read further and heed our advice.
Book Marketing (With or Without the Help of a Publisher)
As an author, you should insist on marketing and PR support from your publisher. However, even if you get the requested support, you should also market your book yourself. Create a website for your book and optimize it for SEO. Have your book reviewed and write press releases that you can send via free press release distribution services. Join communities for authors and readers such as Wattpad or LovelyBooks, connect with readers and promote your book.
Media
Try to have your story published in the media. You cannot determine whether your book will be available in all physical bookstores or not – but you can ask journalists from newspapers and magazines to review your book. The more reviews you get for your book, the easier it will be to sell it.
Direct Marketing
If you want to sell your book, you have to contact your potential customers directly. You have a variety of media you can use to communicate to your readers such as telephone calls, emails, promotional letters, targeted television, and many more.
Social Media
Social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and so on offer huge benefits. Thanks to social media, you can reach your readers easily and directly. On Facebook, you can create a fan page for your book. You can start price campaigns and competitions, share photos and pictures, and much more. Use Twitter like a pro! “Tweet” at least once a day and follow other authors and bloggers so they will probably follow you back. Use hashtags to get more followers.
