Although print books are still very popular, eBooks are the fastest way to self-publish your book worldwide. If you want to make it easy for millions of readers to find, buy, and enjoy your book, you should make an electronic version of your printed books. Between the writing and eBook distribution steps comes the conversion-to-ePub step, and properly formatting your manuscript goes a long way toward how smoothly the conversion process will go. Feiyr makes the process of converting your Word document to a digital book (ePUB) simple, but you should follow a number of guidelines to ensure your eBook looks the way you want.
- Text Formatting
You can use the following typographical emphasis:
- Bold
- Italics
- Underline
- Typographic Alignment and Colors
You can align the text left or right, or center it. Use black as a font color. Not all font colors are supported by eReaders.
- Headings
Use Microsoft Word’s built-in heading-styles “H1”, “H2” etc., otherwise our software will not recognize the headings in your document.
- Bullet Points
Please create a numbered or bulleted list; do not use checkmarks or smileys, as they are not supported by our software.
- Images
All images must be in .jpg format, centered and max. 500×600 pixel high. Do not insert too many images, as they will not display properly in ePUB format.
- Font & Font Sizes
Use standard fonts – not all fonts are supported by eReaders.
- Impressum (Printer’s Imprint)
Include a printer’s imprint in your eBook. Do not include:
- Table of Contents
- Footnotes
- Initials
