Since introducing Instagram Stories last year, Instagram has added many new features to its stories, most recently Location and Hashtag Stories.
HASHTAG STORIES
When users search for a hashtag, they may see now a story ring at the top of the page filled with stories using that hashtag. You too can hashtag your stories if you want them to appear to the people on Instagram.
If you add a hashtag sticker to a story, your story may be included in one of Instagram’s larger story collections and show at the top of the Explore tab – in this way, you can reach a wider audience and get more followers.
LOCATION
Now you can see a new story ring at the top of Explore filled with stories happening near you. Location-based story rings show up when you search for a location (e.g. New York). These stories come from people who have used location stickers on their stories.
If you want to boost your visibility, be sure to use the location tag in your stories so they can show up in the Location Stories.
If your story has been shared in a larger location- or hashtag-based story collection, then you will see it listed at the top of the viewer list along with how many people saw it as part of that larger story.
